class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u5b50\u8d21\u5b66\u7d2f\u4e86&#8230;&#8230;\u5f53\u4f60\u5f00\u59cb\u538c\u5026\u5b66\u4e60\uff0c\u4e00\u4e2a\u5b66\u751f\u6210\u4e3a\u4e00\u4e2a\u5f1f\u5b50\u7684\u4f1f\u5927\u65f6\u523b\u51fa\u73b0\u4e86\u3002\u5f53\u4f60\u5b66\u7d2f\u7684\u65f6\u5019\uff0c\u4f60\u53d1\u751f\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a180\u5ea6\u7684\u5927\u8f6c\u5f2f\u3002\u90a3\u4e48\u4f60\u5c31\u4e0d\u518d\u5bf9\u7406\u8bba\u611f\u5174\u8da3\uff0c\u4f60\u60f3\u8981\u771f\u5b9e\u7684\u4e1c\u897f\uff1b\u4f60\u60f3\u5403\u4e1c\u897f\uff0c\u8fd9\u6837\u624d\u80fd\u83b7\u5f97\u8425\u517b\u3002\u4f60\u4e0d\u60f3\u8981\u4efb\u4f55\u98df\u8c31\uff0c\u4f60\u4e0d\u60f3\u8981\u4efb\u4f55\u70f9\u996a\u4e66\u7c4d\uff0c\u4f60\u60f3\u8981\u771f\u6b63\u7684\u98df\u7269\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8230;&#8230;\u4ed6\u5bf9\u5b54\u5b50\u8bf4\uff0c\u201c\u6211\u60f3\u4f11\u606f\u3002\u201d\u8bed\u8a00\u5236\u9020\u4e0d\u5b89\u3002\u5b66\u8bf4\u3001\u6559\u6761\uff0c\u4f7f\u4f60\u66f4\u52a0\u7d27\u5f20\uff0c\u56e0\u4e3a\u5b83\u4eec\u5c06\u4f60\u5bfc\u5165\u6b67\u9014\uff0c\u5b83\u4eec\u4f7f\u4f60\u8fdc\u79bb\u5b9e\u76f8\u3002\u4f60\u8131\u79bb\u5b9e\u76f8\u8d8a\u8fdc\uff0c\u5c31\u4f1a\u8d8a\u4e0d\u5b89\u3002\u8ba9\u8fd9\u4e2a\u6210\u4e3a\u6807\u51c6\u3002\u6bcf\u5f53\u4f60\u89c9\u5f97\u4e0d\u5b89\uff0c\u90a3\u5c31\u610f\u5473\u7740\u4f60\u8fdc\u79bb\u4e86\u5b9e\u76f8\u3002\u6bcf\u5f53\u4f60\u63a5\u8fd1\u5b9e\u76f8\uff0c\u5c31\u6709\u65e0\u6bd4\u7684\u4f11\u606f\uff0c\u5e73\u9759\uff0c\u4f18\u96c5\uff0c\u5b89\u5b81\uff0c\u5e73\u548c\u3002\u4f60\u56de\u5230\u4e86\u5bb6\uff0c\u56e0\u4e3a\u5b9e\u76f8\u5c31\u662f\u4f60\u7684\u5bb6\u3002\u4e0d\u5b89\u53ea\u662f\u610f\u5473\u7740\u4f60\u79bb\u5f00\u4e86\uff0c\u4f60\u7684\u6574\u4e2a\u5b58\u5728\u90fd\u88ab\u8fde\u6839\u62d4\u8d77\uff0c\u56e0\u6b64\u624d\u4f1a\u4e0d\u5b89\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tzu Kung grew weary of study and told Confucius,&#8221;I want to find rest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;There is no rest for the living.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Then shall I never find it?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;You shall look forward to the lofty and domed mound of your tomb and know where you shall find rest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGreat is death! The gentleman finds rest in it, the mean man submits to it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTzu Kung, you have understood. All men understand the joy of being alive but not its misery; the weariness of growing old but not its ease; the ugliness of death but not its repose.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Philosophy is the enemy of truth. And when I say philosophy I mean all philosophy, mine included, because the philosophy creates a screen of words and you cannot see the reality as it is. It distorts reality, it interprets reality, it gives a garb to reality, it hides reality, it covers reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Truth is naked, truth is all over, truth is within and without;and the only barriers are the words, the theories, the theologies that you have learned.They don\u2019t allow you to see that which is, they come in the way, they are prejudices. All philosophy is a prejudice, and all concepts are not bridges. No concept is a bridge&#8211;they are the barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One day or other, an authentic inquirer comes to that great moment of realization when he feels weary, tired&#8211;tired of all this nonsense that goes on in the name of thinking. The word god is not God. How long can you go on playing with the word? The word food is not food. How long can you go on carrying the word food and remain hungry? One day or other you will become aware that what you are carrying is only a word&#8211;it cannot nourish you, it cannot give you life, it cannot give you peace. It cannot give you anything. Of course it promises all, that is how philosophy becomes so important&#8211;because of its promises. But all those promises are empty; they are never fulfilled. Philosophy has never helped anybody to realize truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This great moment of realization has come into Tzu Kung.He was the chief disciple of Confucius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tzu Kung grew weary of study&#8230;To look is one thing,to study is diametrically opposite. If I say to you,\u201cGo and see the rose flowers in the garden,&#8221; and rather than going to the garden you go to the library and you study about the rose flowers&#8211;that is study. About and about, around and around it moves; it never touches the real point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tzu Kung grew weary of study&#8230;Enough of the words.Enough of the theories, dogmas. Enough of the doctrines. And this I call a great moment in the life of an inquirer. Everybody has to pass through words because we have been trained for words. Everybody has to pass through theories;we have been given theories from our very childhood. We have been brought up according to prejudices, doctrines, churches, schools. Somebody is a Christian and somebody is a Mohammedan and somebody is a Hindu, and we have been brought up, conditioned.So the moment you start asking,\u201dWhat is truth?\u201dyour mind starts supplying words; it knows the answers. Those answers are all false, those answers are all borrowed, but it gives you beautiful answers. They satisfy you for a while, and if your inquiry is not great, they may satisfy you forever. Only a great inquirer sees the point that words are meaningless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Language is not the door to reality, but silence. The inner talk must cease, only then will you have clarity. Only then reality reveals itself to you. You go on chattering inside, and your mind goes on functioning constantly, obsessively, like a maniac. And the mind is a maniac. It goes on creating new words, new combinations, new theories; it goes on speculating. It is a great inventor as far as theories are concerned and it does not allow you even a single interval, a gap, to look at what is there. The inner talk must cease&#8230;then suddenly there is no barrier; there never has been.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Zen monks say that from the very beginning the truth is unhidden, the truth is in front of you. What are you seeking?Where are you running? But your eyes are closed through prejudices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tzu Kung grew weary of study&#8230;.He has learned much and now he realizes that learning has not nourished him. It has not strengthened him, it has not delivered anything, it has not made him feel more real than he was before. He is not yet anywhere, he is yet hollow. There is no integration. He does not know in fact who he is.He became weary. He must have been a great inquirer&#8211;even Confucius could not deceive him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Confucius is a great scholar: he can supply answers for every question possible, and he can invent beautiful answers. All those answers are fabricated, homemade, but they can deceive fools.They can make many people feel that they know. They can become consolations. And his knowledge, his respectability, his impeccable character&#8230;He is a man of virtue,remember,a very moral man&#8230;a man of character, of great manners, etiquette, a gentleman. The\u201cgentleman\u201dis the goal of all Confucian philosophy; a man must become a gentleman. He is impeccable, you cannot find a loophole in his character; all virtues have become real in him. A moral man with great knowledge, supported by the tradition, convention, scripture&#8211; respected by the kings and the queens, respected all over the country&#8211;but even he could not deceive Tzu Kung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tzu Kung grew weary of study&#8230;When you become weary of study, the great moment has come when a student becomes a disciple. When you are weary of study, then you take a hundred and eighty degree turn. Then you are no longer interested in theories, you want the real; you want the food to eat so that you can be nourished. And you don&#8217;t want any more recipes, you don\u2019t want any more cookbooks; you want the real food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8230;and told Confucius, &#8220;I want to find rest.&#8221;Words create restlessness. Doctrines, dogmas, make you more tense because they lead you astray; they lead you away from reality. The farther away you are from reality, the more restless you will be. Let that be a criterion. Whenever you feel restless, that means you have gone far away from reality. Whenever you are close to reality, there is tremendous rest, calm, quietude, grace, silence, peace. You are at home because reality is your home.
